The database that comes with the installation files is the database that you must use. You can make copies of it in order to store different contact information separately. The database must be an Access97 or Access2000 file and can be named anything you like as long as it ends in .mdb such as Friends.mdb. (ra% HN)9% RH--Entering data and finding a record--kEa & HOnce you have loaded in a database, there are several options you have. Press "Add" to begin. Enter someones contact information then press "Save". If you wish to change an existing record, scroll through the database using the arrows attached to the data control or press the Find button to locate a specific record. When you press Find you will be prompted to enter a first name to search for. The list box automatically searches for a name beginning with the first letter you typed. Continue typing the persons name you are trying to find until a match is found. (B % HY4 % hH--Finding a record continued Updating a record--a;B & wHAfter the right first name has been selected, choose whether or not to include a last name with the search as well. If so, Press the Tab key once then press the spacebar key to mark the checkbox with the caption Include a search for the persons last name. Then press Tab again then Enter or double-click on the selected name. If you choose to search for a last name in addition to the persons first name, a form will appear that will ask you to enter the persons last name. After pressing the search button or the enter key you will be shown the record of the first person that matches your search criteria. If a match is found, you are taken to that record. If not, you are taken to the first match of the first name only. After the search is done and you have found the record you are looking for, press Edit to change that persons details. Once done editing, press Save to save your changes to the database. If you wish to cancel this operation before pressing Save, press Undo to return you to the regular search mode without saving any changes.( $% H@ d% 6H--What the buttons do-- b$@& HThe Tree button will show a list of all people entered into your database sorted by last name. The Hide button will make all forms disappear. To make People Saver reappear, either double-click on the icon in the system tray, or right click on the icon and press Show. The View button will allow you to see all of your contact information at once. You can also edd@ it your database in the view form. The Delete button will prompt you to continuea fail-safe measure added for your convenience. When the Print button is pressed, People Saver allows you to print your file, or save it as text. (d A% HE @eA% @H--About the properties form--|V AD& HIf you wish to change any properties press on the Options menu then choose properties. To change the background color of the add and edit modes, press Background from the Appearance Tab and a handy color selection form will appear and prompt you to choose a color. Either pick a default or custom color then press OK. Your color choice will be saved to a file for future use. You can also change the font of the print, view and fields forms. By selecting the Disable font settings on main form option, your font settings will only apply to the view and print forms, otherwise all forms will be affected. Under the Print Settings tab, you can change the print header caption or the print margin. Both of these options are not visible. The results of these operations are only seen from a page that has been printed from the print form. (eA E% HO*DXE% TH--About the properties form continued-- EWI& HUnder the General tab on the properties form you can choose to Show splash screen on start up, Use current database as default, Use current size and position as default and Order by last name. The splash screen setting is self-explanatory. The second option mentioned will allow you to save the current data base you are working with as your default, so that you need not search for a database the next time the program starts. The third option will save the forms current size and position for the next time the program is loaded. With the fourth option, Order by last name, you can choose how your database is sorted. The default is to sort by last name, but again your choice will be saved to a file for future use. To reset the properties to their original state, press Reset. If you have 2 people with exactly the same first and last names, and you do a search or choose one from the tree view, you might not get the person you intend to find. To work around this issue: If for some strange reason you have meet two people with the same first and last names, try entering any differences about them into the first or last name fields.
